Welch Allyn 'Denlite' cordless dental light, $5.

The folks at Welch Allyn are known for producing, among other medical and dental devices, those little otoscopes that doctors use to look in your ears, up your nose and down your throat. As you can imagine, medical and dental equipment like the instruments Welch Allyn makes is costly, and this unassuming little jewel is no exception. You'd be wise to take a few minutes to explore this lucrative area of opportunity!

"Bright, white, and safe to use around composites, our DenLite lets you put more light exactly where you need it most. The result is improved vision that allows you to make more thorough examinations."

When you go into a store, everything is right there in front of you, in plain sight. The best stuff is usually placed right there at eye level, "in your face," so that you simply can't miss it. We've all become used to this sort of shopping scenario, and one of the most confusing things for the person who's new to this business to grasp is the fact that the best stuff is not likely to be proudly displayed for all to see. Heck, sometimes the best stuff couldn't be harder to find if it was in the garbage can, under last night's dinner scraps! We found this little jewel in a five-gallon bucket under a bunch of worthless telephone cords and other wires. You just never know what's going to be where.

This little cordless dental light (hence the 'Denlite' name) is designed to be clipped to a dentist's belt, so that he can check out a patient's teeth without being tethered to a wall cord. I guess mobility has a price, because these units cost well over $300 at online dental supply houses like Patterson Dental.

Note that since we had the charger, we were able to charge it ou and make sure it worked. But at this price, it was a deal even if the charger was not there and the light didn't work. Like most medical and dental equipment, the DenLite costs so much new that even inoperative examples hold their value for the buyers on eBay who repair and refurbish them for resale.

This little Welch Allyn DenLite sold on eBay for an even $100.
