Honda 'Hondaline' motorcycle rear luggage carrier, $10.
Hondaline is Honda's line of 'genuine' or 'authorized' parts and accessories available to riders who want to improve or accessorize their Honda motorcycles. Always keep an eye out for parts whose brand name contains the name of the vehicle they are intended to fit, because they will often cost more than comparable items from other brands.
You really should take a bit of time to learn about the different kinds of motorcycle luggage you're sure to see, because some of it is very expensive. I know from experience that just about any kind of motorcycle luggage is worth snapping up, as long as it is in good condition, has a recognizable name and, of course, can be snatched up for cheap. This piece of Hondaline luggage was intended to go along with a matching set of side saddlebags, and is interesting in that it could be carried around like a suitcase.
This piece came off a 1983 Honda CB1100F sport bike, but I think the same luggage was used on different Honda models of that era, such as the Gold Wing, up until around 1984. Motorcycle aficionados are interesting in that it doesn't seem like the year of their ride really matters as it does with cars. You may not see someone tooling around proudly in a 1984 Ford LTD or Dodge Diplomat, but a Honda Gold Wing or Aspencade of the same era is still a very classy machine, often owned by the guy who bought it new. And the people who own and love these bikes are now all over eBay, searching for parts and accessories that have been lost, stolen or destroyed.
Something else to think about is the fact that the accessories like these hard luggage pieces were quite expensive back in the day, and lots of guys wished they could afford them. Now that the owners of these bikes can afford these neat accessories, there aren't that many of them around to be snapped up
This vintage Hondaline motorcycle luggage piece sold on eBay for $83.
