The first thing that grabbed my attention about this unit - other than the fact that I'd never seen one before - was the word physiotherapy on the front. As so often happens when an unusual item pops up at a yard sale, folks take turns trying to figure out what it's for, and that's what happened in this case. And since nobody could agree on its purpose (or simply plug the darned thing to see what it did!) the seller took my $1 offer.
Despite the $600 price you'd pay for one of these machines new, they're actually fairly simply built. The main unit houses a motor, which spins a flexible drive shaft that goes to the hand unit. When the unit is in operation, the drive shaft spins something around in the head, causing a very powerful, low-frequency vibrating action. As opposed to being a reg'lar ol' massager, this unit is designed to alleviate a specific medical condition: to break up the congestion in the lungs and bronchial tubes in people who suffer from certain diseases.
